  2. Hall Capacity – The main hall offers a maximum capacity of 200 for music/ dancing. 152 for theatre style layout and a recommended 120 maximum when fully seated at tables. The booking form requires the hirer to state approximately how many persons will attend their event during the hire period. Hirers MUST NOT exceed the maximum capacity levels, for fire, safety and insurance purposes.
  3. Deposit – a £50 deposit is required for all bookings of a party or social gathering nature, and/or food / drinks / refreshments being prepared, cooked or provided.  This deposit is against damage and failure to leave the hall clean as found.  This sum will be completely separate from the hire fee, and will be invoiced separately. The deposit against damage or breakage would be returned within 7 days after the event, once the premises have been inspected for damage, loss and cleanliness.
  4. The keys CANNOT be provided until payment has been received. You’ll be given details for key collection in advance.
  5. If you are interested in hiring the hall at short notice just get in touch using the email address above, who will also be happy to discuss any interest in booking the hall, from one off events to regular use.
  6. Don’t confuse the start time given in the calendar with the start time of an event. The time shown is the beginning of the hire period.
  7. Disabled access is via the door at the rear of the building, accessed from the lane to the left of the hall. The door only opens from the inside and must be kept shut when not in use as the lane is privately owned and in constant use. Therefore this door is only to be used for disabled access and as a Fire Escape. There is a wheelchair ramp, stored opposite the door adjacent to the PA system unit.
  8. If you want to sell alcohol If your event requires a bar, you’ll need to apply for a Temporary Event Notice (T.E.N.) From West Devon Borough Council. Our Premises Licence allows 12 of these to be issued per year.
